What should I expect during a sports massage session?

Consultation: Prior to the massage, the therapist will organise a 15-minute online consultation to discuss your medical history, any specific concerns or areas of pain, and your goals for the session so the massage can be tailored to your individual needs. After the consultation, an online consent form will be provided that must be completed and submitted before the session.

Preparation: Comfortable clothes should be worn. You’ll be given privacy to undress to your comfort level and lie on a massage table covered with towels or sheets. The therapist will leave the room to allow you to get ready.

Techniques: The therapist will use a combination of techniques such as deep tissue massage, stretching, friction, and compression to target areas of tension, muscle soreness, or injury. Yes: any type of skin infection; open wounds; circulatory problems such as thrombosis, bleeding disorders; less than 48 hours after injury; during acute inflammation; tumours if in the area being massaged; first trimester of pregnancy.

Guidance will be given on the frequency of sports massage sessions based on individual needs, goals, and lifestyle factors, such as training intensity, recovery time, and injury prevention.

The duration of a standard sports massage sessions are 30 and 60 minutes. Longer sessions are available based on client preferences or specific treatment needs.
